In December, we were happy to announce that customers that use heating oil to warm their homes will receive financial support.
Now those who have not yet received their financial support can finally receive their £200 by applying through the online portal, which is open until the end of May. Customers should be aware no one will contact you from the government about this unless you contact them – so please be aware of scams.

To apply, you will need the below:
- Proof of address
- Bank account details
- Proof of heating oil purchases with a value of £200 or more between September 2022 – 31 May 2023
If you don’t have online access, the contact centre helpline can be called on 0808 175 3287 for applicants in Great Britain or 0808 175 3894 for applicants in Northern Ireland, where a representative will guide you through the application process. The helpline is open 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday.
Some customers should have received their financial support already through their electricity company. The customers that received the support do not fall into the below categories:
- Those who don’t have a direct relationship with an electricity supplier
- Those who use an alternative fuel, but whose home is on the gas grid
- Those that were excluded because of the high occurrence of electric heating in their area
